ACTIVITIES TO ENJOY AT
GILI ISLANDS WEATHER
Snorkel With Sea Turtles
Snorkelling is a must-do when visiting the Gili Islands. The crystal blue waters are filled with exotic marine life, including sea turtles, eels, stingrays, lionfish, and so much more.
Just a few metres off the main island beaches the sand cascades away to reveal coral heads, sponges and an amazing array of rainbow vistas.
Laze On Turquoise Fringed Beaches
Gili T has many beaches great for spending a day just chilling and enjoying the good vibes. If you love to surf, head over to Surf Point on the southeast end of the island. There is fabulous soft white sand nearby where you can lounge and sunbathe.
On the west side of the island, the beaches aren’t as nice, but this is where you will catch the sunset. Expect some crowds as the sun goes down and pinks and oranges take over the sky!

If you’re going to the “party island”, there is never a shortage of festivities to enjoy! Check out some of the local beach bars with DJs and themed parties. If you’re staying at a hostel, ask the staff about a pub crawl or where the best night party is. The locals always know best!

Party Central
You’ll likely recognize the Gili T swings from popular Instagram shots of travelers exploring the islands.
You can try out your photo game, or simply swing and admire the coming sunset (though there might be a few people waiting for their turn to take a cool pic!).

Amazing Activities
You won't have to walk too far to find fun and adventure!
Hike Gili T Hill
Get PADI Certified
Gili Trawangan Hill is the highest point across all the Gili Islands. It’s also less of a ‘hike’ and more of a ‘walk’. It takes only about ten minutes to reach the top of the hill, but you’ll be rewarded with great panoramic views of the island, as well as Bali, Lombok, and the other Gili’s. This is a great place to watch the sunrise or sunset, especially since most other people choose the beach.

The Gili Islands are one of the cheapest places in the world to get PADI certified in scuba diving.
Not only that, but it also has some of the best diving experiences, including three separate wreck sites (one previous jetty for a cruise ship, an old tug boat, and a Japanese WW2 ship).

Explore On Horseback
Freediving Frolics
With a variety of horses to suit all levels of rider, Stud Stables offer a unique opportunity to discover Gili Trawangan on horseback. They are the oldest & safest horse riding stables on Gili T with western standards of care & equipment, and offer beach & island rides for all levels. Quiet paths will take you through serene coconut groves and lead you out for a ride along sandy beaches – truly a wonderful way to explore the island at a leisurely pace.

Surfing Safari
Ever wanted to explore the depths without all the equipment? Whether you’re a complete novice or a more experienced apnoea diver, Freedive Gili offer range of certified courses that will train your body to be more efficient with oxygen and provide you with all the skills necessary to have you freediving to depths of 20 metres (or more!) in no time. For some it may be about the adrenalin rush while for others it’s a way to peacefully interact with the abundant marine ecosystem.
Gili T can be a secret blessing when the surf is good. Surfers that can drop fast waves will be rewarded with long rides and big swells with steep barrels in some parts. The spot is a fast right-hand reef-break about 300 meters off the southern end of the island. Surfing can be tricky here and large south-southwest swells are necessary in order to clear the coral, which is also a popular site with snorkelers. The wet season (January – June) can provide 1-2 meter (3-6 foot) swells.
